Chinese Glutinous Rice Dumpling (II)

I had it last year. I am having it again this year.

This time, coincide with our trip home, I sought my mum's consensus to do it together, to rejoice our good old family tradition. I also thought, perhaps I can show off a little of my matured skill of rice dumpling wrapping.

On the day itself, my mum really got things ready on the dining table, left it all to me and my sister to do the wrapping work. It was amounting 1.5kg of glutinous rice and approximately yield 30-40 dumplings.

For the first time, I involved young children- my two girls and my sister's. They were having fun in filling up the 'coned' leave, and then passed to me or my sis to do the wrapping and tying.

The girls enjoyed it. I beamed.

I hope to keep this little tradition of my maternal family and be part of their happy childhood.

  1. So nice that you still make homemade dumplings with your family and even involved your girl. I used to help my grandma wrap them but she's stopped making it for years as it can be so laborious. Keep the tradition going.

    1. I have to confess that I like to eat this, especially homemade. Maybe because of fond childhood memory.

Involving the girls was just to occupy them (even just for a while) and a way to relive my childhood in front of them. My mum was worry on the mess but I reckon she was so happy as well to see the little ones came in to join the fun. hahaa.
