Published Gate Price on the day for 1 adult: £48.00 / 1 child: £43.80
I remember clearly that, if I went ahead with the tickets booking of 2 Adults and 2 Children, I would get an after-discount price of £137.70 for a family of 4 like us.
Very expensive, still!
I pondered for a long while.
KK, a very old friend of SC who is now residing in London, recommended us London 2for1 attractions, with the requirement that, we need to travel by train to Windsor. Why? Simply because it is an offer by National Rail and ATOC.
There are many 2for1 Offer via National Rail to attractions in and around London, by the way.
And so, we traveled by train and retain the train tickets, then present the train tickets upon purchasing the park tickets at the counter of Legoland Park @ Windsor. To make sure we did the right thing from the very beginning, we asked at Hackbridge Station, upon our departure, if the train tickets are valid for the 2for1 Offer. [Note: Any National Rail train ticket is applicable for the 2for1 Offer]
The train (from Hackbridge) took us to Claphan Junction, then we changed to another platform for another train to Windsor & Eton Riverside Station. The girls were very excited and looked forward to another Legoland fun. The journey was bit long though, 2 hours plus waiting time and we left our lodging late. As it was out last day in London, the girls enjoyed the scenery with more green and less building outside the train, didn't complain a word. Lastly, we took shuttle bus directly to the Legoland Park. [Note, don't doze off during the bus ride, it will pass by Windsor Castle and the town]
It was not uncommon to see a long queue for many ticketing counters at the entrance of the Legoland @ Windsor, but the queue moved fast. Supposedly, 2for1 Offer for us is 1 adult ticket entitled 1 free child ticket. I was trying my luck by asking the counter if the other way round is possible for us (buy child ticket, free adult ticket), and we got it! It was £43.80 x2 for a family of four of us. Woot, surprise!
Opening hours of Legoland @ Windsor is 10am to 6pm, daily during this season of the year. We were on leisure mode and by the time we reached the Park and gotten our tickets, we had about 6 hours of fun time left with us, only.
1. Heartlake City
This was the main attraction for the girls, due to LEGO® Friends. We were in time to catch the live stage show of "LEGO Friends to the Rescue".The girls were fascinated with the life-size Lego Buildings and didn't want to leave the place at all. [Note: LEGO Friends to the Rescue Show times only once or twice a day, so plan ahead if you (or your kids) do not want to miss this]
2. Mia's Riding Adventure
This was within the Heartlake City. Little Bomber was short form the required height of 1.2m and pretty sad to stay at the ground just to build some Lego set. Whilst I had to accompany the Big Girl for the ride. The giddy up rider was not to my like, totally! It was a spinning ride that travel backwards and forwards on a curved track.
3. Aero Nomad
A traditional Ferris wheel armed with air balloon pods that had great view overlooking at some part of the Legoland Park.
4. Coastguard HQ
One best thing about this trip to Legoland was short wait. And weather was good, sunny but cooling. Short queue for the boat ride, breezing sail through the waterway. Absolutely great day to a theme park!
5. LEGO City Driving School
They had countless driving experiences in the Legoland Malaysia, but still, I can't make them skip this.
6. Miniland
Between Driving School and Fire Academy, we roamed into the Miniland...
This was very much like spinning cup ride! Minus the giant spider hovering above.
9. Jolly Rocker and Longboat Invader
Spill and splash, this was my favourite among all! Upon my request, we got twice the fun! Happy me!
11. Scarab-Bouncers
Being bounced up to 15 feet high in the air, not my cup of tea.
12. Castaway Camp
We loved this pirate play area a lot, with different reasons. It was a giant well-designed playground, with many big trees providing shaded turf spots for parents to rest on while the kids continue burnt their energy. I had my power nap here, on lawn.
I felt that I had enough of thrilling and and spilling and flying, but not the girls. So SC took turns to bring each of our daughters to the roller coater ride. Apparently it was toooooo fun, three of them had more than two rides! Have I mentioned about the very short queue(or no queue sometimes)? This was our last stop as we were almost reaching 6pm by then.
Obviously, we did not have enough of Legoland@Windsor!
More notes:
Once again, we did not prepare much prior to the visit. We grabbed the Park Map at the entrance and let the girls decide the activities along the way.
Do prepare some food and plenty of water for a full day visit to Legoland. Also, It was such a gorgeous day that many families had picnic in the Park wherever they could find a shady spot. There were many food outlets scatter around the Park, but it was not at reasonable price, imo. We paid almost 10 pounds for a hotdog and a drink(horror)!
If you like to plan ahead, go download the Mobile App.
Put on sunblock!
Lastly, head down to Mango Lounge for dinner after a full day fun in Legoland. It is an Indian Restaurant within walking distance from the train station. The food was authentic but less spiciness compare to our Indian food here in tropical.

7. Fire Academy
Come to a stage, I realised that kids made decision over familiarity. They had done fire engine already (in Legoland Malaysia), but still wanted to do it again. Under a cooler weather, putting out a fire was less tired.
8. Spinning Spider
This was very much like spinning cup ride! Minus the giant spider hovering above.
9. Jolly Rocker and Longboat Invader
Another dizzying spin on the Jolly Rocker and the Longboat Invader. The girls just didn't have enough of such high swing or spin. I was almost puked.
10. Viking's River Splash
Spill and splash, this was my favourite among all! Upon my request, we got twice the fun! Happy me!

Wooo my girl would have loved Heart Lake City!!! Too bad Legoland Malaysia don't have :(
ReplyDeleteWhat is it with theme parks and overpriced food. Oh well, we just have to get used to it. Theme Parks always burn a huge hole in our pocket. But if everyone has fun, then it is money well spent! This Legoland definitely looked fab! Great tip on the discount.
ReplyDeleteThat's a nice discount! Next time I travel by train, I need to check that out. Despite living pretty close to Legoland Windsor, I still haven't actually been (yet) but sounds a really fun day. #citytripping
