end of a test

Wanted to write the final episode of our "nasty bug". But... before i could really have a free & quiet moment to sit down and scribble it, I am packed with my 'hay-wired' routine again.

It was me attacked by the nasty bug right after HY's recovery. I guess it was unavoidable since I was the sole caretaker during her illness. I went through all her miserable fight against the stomach flu virus; I had fluid diet for 2 days in a row and caused me dizziness badly until now. I had to stay away from little Bomber, and I had to pray that I will not lost the supply of breast milk as i was almost dehydrated.

Moments like these will definitely wake the evil devil and shouted at me to stop breastfeeding. Sleep deprived, weight losing(terribly), I would... but the minute little Bomber latched on to me, and sucked contentedly, I can see that i am probably the biggest happiness to her.

Meanwhile, little HY is back to her usual self. Chatty, active and slowly increase her appetite to gain back her weight. "Bully" her grandma (my MIL) occationally for skipping the medicine, for demanding more tv hours, for reading more story books, for being as wild as she wants to.

Anyway, we are glad that we have passed the test, and little Bomber ain't affected too much.

we are tested, once again

hy is ill again. fever, serious constipation, cough, thought she was getting better but i think the virus transformed and somehow she vomits whatever she ate or drank. even medicine or plain water.

SC called a minute ago, her blood test result confirmed her having viral infection and needed to be admitted to KK hospital for treatment. i can hear her cried badly far from the phone and understand that she wants mummy.

the typical mummy's guilt came and visit me again. she has not been this ill for quite some time back. i feel very bad this time as i am not longer able to focus on her. i have to attend to baby xy fully and rely on SC to console her. honestly a big applause to daddy: for taking time off to babysit her 3 days in a row.

the girls and i will be in hell without him.

it is 3am, and i miss my chatter thumbelina anxiously.

chapter 3: my beam of joy

I recall fondly, that she slept excessively
as if she was still in her warm, dark environment

i had to re-learn about breastfeeding and sleepy baby
i had to wake her up for nursing
it got more difficult, milk built up and i got extremely engorged

soon she began to self wake for hunger
soon she learnt about mama's scent

it is pride
to be able to nurse her exclusively
to be able to console her when she is cranky
it is joy
to see her latch on and suck well
to see her contented and fall asleep in my arms
it is love
to coo and cuddle her
to see her eyes shine at me

i recall fondly, that this was her peak of her baby fat
she was just 2 months old

chapter 2: sisterhood

she adores her very much. from the moment meimei (younger sister) is born.
she wanted to cuddle her;
she wanted to kiss her.
she willingly pass down her baby clothes to meimei and proudly announce that she is the elder sister now.
her eyes will tell you that, she loves her little sister.

meimei, on the other hand, admires her jiejie (elder sister) very much,
she stares at her whatever she is doing and wherever she moves to;

her eyes will sparked and she will errr and ahhh when jiejie is talking to her.

when meimei is cranky, jiejie does sometime, a good job to soothe her.
when jiejie is being punished and cried out loud, meimei too will soon start to pout and furrow brows which lead to tears.
i can tell, the sisterhood is building well.
and one fine day they will be ally and make me more tired, i believe...

journal:
Cries and smiles are the only ways she communicate with us.

Cry when she is alone; when she is in a need... which I am still learn to interprete her correctly.
Smile when she sees anyone of us come near her and talk to her; when she has enough sleep and enough milk.
Flipping her fists and kicking her legs when she is in great joy with us or the hanging mobile.

She is my 100 days old little wild child.

Thanks for looking. this is my parenting on XY, chapter 1...

Bomber at 2 months old

upon reaching her full 2 months old, she smiles at me for the first time:).

she is weighted 5.3kgfully breastfed
nurse irregularly
and so poos a lot and wees a lot
newly acquired the venture of sucking pacifier
likes to flip hands and kick legs a lot

having baby acne
wail as much as she is awake crying pitch gets higher if i response slow!
without i realise it, i am perspiring while attending to her
i am stressful to learn to recognise her different cries.
big sister HY continues to adore her
continues to learn to be good jiejie
often offer helps and cheers
which is wonders and somehow sometime can be disasters

i am still in chaotic schedule
regardless i am in S'pore with SC's supports ,or
in KL, pampered with wonderful mum's home-cooked food (without SC's support)
solely, i am caring them day and night

M.O.T.

life as a mother of two (MOT)is certainly challenging (otherwise i would have my second child 1 or 2 years ago). especially at night, when i desperately look forward to SC's return to split the attentions of 2 children. he has been working late lately.

problem occurs when the baby gets cranky badly at night, wail till 12 midnight. every single night! so i have to carry her, nurse her till she snoozes. but the moment i put her down in cot, she will "wuaaaa...". fierce little baby! on the other hand, HY unwillingly to get her self prepared for bed. i guess she wanted to spend more time with us and her little sister after come back from school in the evening. unfortunately nights are always busy for us on her, tiny little her required 2 runs of dinner: 6-7pm and 9-10pm. in between will be our bonding time with her, plays or doodles or sometime homeworks from school. if SC is late to come home, both are crying babies, as I could not really attend to anyone of them at one time. i couldn't neglect HY and let her do nothing but waste time, i'd have to help her. but
when my hands are on HY, XY will wail badly on cot. could it be jealousy?

at one time, i was gloomed.

i guess adaptation to be MOT requires more wisdom and patience.

one small thing is showing the sign of improvement is that, little XY starts to sleep longer hours at night. from the very beginning of every 2 hourly feeding to only 1 feeding (at 4am+) required for last night.

anyway, share with you my recipes of home alone lunch:
Steamed Angelica Chicken 蒸当归鸡.

my version of ingredients:
1. one chicken thigh
2. some salt to marinate
3. 2 thin slices of Dong Guai (angelica sinensis)
4. a tablespoon of Gei Zi (
wolfberries)
boil the water in the wok first, then steam the marinated chicken thigh with Dang Gui and Gei Zi for about 10 to 15 minutes. you can refer to the link above for proper method of preparation. slurp it with a bowl of steamed rice. simple and yummy!

i have a long way to go, so i better eat properly.

wushu for her

Little Bud is in the wushu class since October.

However, she was only fully participate in the class after 4 weeks of sitting at the back of the class and do nothing but see. She was not ready.

Thankfully, the instructor is kind and being patience to consider her.

Every Saturday morning to the wushu center became very challenging to me and SC, as she would change her mind and totally resist to step into the classroom at the very last minute. Persuasive and encouragement were the key elements. I take the task to get her in a wushu class as high sensitivity and carefulness.

Sometimes we sit at the back of the class, with spending of 30 minutes to persuade her to join in the group for lesson. Other time, it was little effort from us to push her to join the others for the lesson. The "sitting" time reduced week after week, then she "evolved" to the stage when she wants me to join her to follow the instructions to do the stances. I felt embarrassing, but got to do what a mum has to do. It was just a while and perhaps 2 weeks of being a student of my self, I managed to let go. I sit behind and watch her wushuing instead. By the time she was comfortable to step into the classroom and beam to wave her hand to me after greeted Ryan, the instructor, it was almost 2 months later.

Very soon, year ending and we were told that the children will be having their assessment on 10 Jan 10.

SC and i were unsure on this, kept asking the instructor for detail and pondered whether to let her 'try'. At the back of our minds, we would pull her out if she is uncomfortable with it. Surprisingly, she had fun on all the stations to complete the required movement test. She was willing to try even she was not been taught some of the things.

One of the station was testing on horse stance. she was able to hold for more than a minute.

she is the tiniest among all. looking at her tested for different movements and poses, she is once again, gives me a very strong sense of strength.

our tree is up!

I get tired easily these days.

Nevertheless, I managed to have something to fill my twosome time with little bud. SC returned to Kulim/Penang for a wedding invitation last weekend.

Thanks to Evelyn for sharing this link: Christmas Tree Wall Decoration. It was fun making it.
source

I managed to grab her interest from paper selection in the morning to cutting and folding the papers during night time while we were watching the movie UP. With her little helps and noise, I almost gave up of folding 20 pieces of reds and greens.

I was drained thereafter and had a great sleep.

But after putting everything up to the wall and looking at her smile, it worth the effort!
she did not forget to tell daddy that, the tree is a 'surprise' to celebrate his return.

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to all!
