Together with her hair triggered temper, my first born is entering into her Eight, getting very close to Tween. I decided to make her work harder on the day we celebrate her birthday.

To activate PLAY and optimum the joy level of the birthday child, we went back to The Polliwogs @ Robinson Walk.
Inevitably, PLAY in this particular situation was actually underlined with "Hassle-free" for the party planner (That's me!).
Oh, with both the components above: PLAY and "Hassle-free", I had to get a great partner, The Polliwogs. Do you know that they have "Value Play Pass" which entitles 7 visits (or in this case, 7 kids) entry at $125?
It was my intention to keep the guest number small, so that the birthday girl interacted with each of her guests. (This was absolutely great excuse to get less involved in hosting the party)
In addition, I passed the responsibility of deciding "Who to Invite" to the birthday girl.

The rest of party planning was done by me. That, included liaison and confirmation with The Polliwogs, the invitation card design and very simple party bag preparation. I didn't spend time to get a fantastic cake and I stroke off Party Themes. No princess, no fairy, no minion, no deco. Just PLAY.
I also sought the parents' permission to leave their child with me. The parents didn't need to stay on and watch a silly mother screaming at her toddler. (Of course, there were parents very keen to see the fun, chat with me and stay on for a while)
For the first time, I met three of her bestie classmates. She also invited two of her pre-schoolmates who are now in different schools (but constantly meeting up).
The birthday bash started off with some disagreement. But the girls dissolved the tension fast and played together with no trail of unhappiness. Must be the magical PLAY.
When the lunch was served, they dashed in the party room and helped themselves...
The food was good apparently. (The food was ordered separately under the cafe food purchase.)
The most important part of the celebration after the lunch: the birthday songs, the posing and hugging, candles blowing and cake cutting.
Now, what was it so funny? The laughs are priceless.
(This puts a smile on my face when I am writing this...)
They went off for another round of PLAY after slurped their cakes.
Did I mention unlimited play hours? It is the great deal from Value Play Pass.
And me? No time for coffee at all. Seizing the happy moments (and chatting with the parents) happened to be the best thing to do.
I think I have organised a good party for her!
Aww, sweet! I'm late, but happy birthday to your girl! Looks like everyone enjoyed themselves. Did you have to pay extra to use the party room or is that included in the play pass?
ReplyDeleteThanks V. You are not late, I'm the one procrastinating in posting and sharing the fun.
ReplyDeleteThe party room use came with $150 café food purchase;).
Looks like fun, happy birthday to your little girl!
ReplyDeleteThanks June! Eight is challenging, mama is trying to embrace it with more fun;).
DeleteHappy birthday to her! :) looks like they had lots of fun indeed!
ReplyDeleteAi @ Sakura Haruka
Thanks Ai, I had fun too hehe^^.
DeleteHappy Birthday to you, little PC. So when is yr exact date? I think yours should be very close to my son AJ's who is 1 year your junior. You sure have fun there. Thanks for your mum's recommendation, maybe next year AJ could host his party there.
ReplyDeleteMaybe close...
DeleteI would like to try science party next year! Maybe I should hire you instead... hehe.
What a fun party! PLAY... that is absolutely the best 'theme' to have. And I think it's a great idea to keep the guest list small and select. Makes the occasion more meaningful, spending it with close knit friends.
ReplyDeleteLooking back, this is probably the best thing I did for my child for the year;)!
ReplyDeleteThanks for dropping by^^.
